Ngene 1.3 now available

Postby Andrew Collins » Tue Dec 14, 2021 4:38 pm

Ngene version 1.3 is now available and recommended for all users (including as a free update to existing users). The version has many stability improvements. You are particularly encouraged to install this version if you are generating orthogonal designs.

The easiest way to update Ngene is to select "Check for updates" from the Help menu. The software can then be downloaded and the update started from within Ngene. Alternatively, download the installer from http://www.choice-metrics.com/download.html#software and install the software.

Ngene 1.3 has this new feature:
  • Blocked designs can also be reported sorted by block number (click the arrow next to the 'Design' property to see a 'Design sorted by block' option.
The following enhancements have been made:
  • Availability of additional orthogonal designs, and prevention of generation of some problematic orthogonal designs.
  • Informative error message generated if Ngene.lf license file cannot be written to (due to file permissions restrictions).
  • Added section to manual: “3.1 A typical Ngene session”, which is useful for first time users of Ngene.
And there are many bug fixes, including:
  • Numerous stability improvements.
  • Prevention of crash if magnitude of parameter priors is too large (although this condition will usually prevent the generation of efficient designs).
  • Increased “Online activation” dialog box size to prevent problems where the buttons were being rendered offscreen.
  • Fixed false identification of update availability with “Check for Updates” feature, and error message on completion of installation after using this feature.
  • Fixed bug that affected opening of saved .ngd design file containing multiple designs.
  • Assorted bug fixes.
  • Corrections and clarifications made to the manual.
If you have any feedback on this version, email us at contact@choice-metrics.com. Also use this email address if you have any technical problems completing the upgrade.
