The influence of econometric model to the AVC matrix

Dear Prof. Michiel Bliemer,
Please, clarify this paragraph for me ''one cannot simply assume that a design that minimises the elements contained within the AVC for one model form will necessarily minimise the AVC matrix for another model form".
If I determine the MNL model in Ngene syntax, then Could I estimate the MMNL model or another from the collecting data?

Sincerely yours,

Yes you can use data obtained through an MNL optimised experimental design to estimate a mixed MNL model, you merely lose some efficiency in the data collection because you did not optimise your data collection for estimating mixed MNL models. Given that optimising data for estimating mixed MNL models is in practice very difficult, it is common to optimise the design for the MNL model and estimate a mixed MNL model. Given that in a mixed MNL model there are more parameters to estimate, it is a good idea to create a somewhat larger design (more rows).
